BACKGROUND
Brew Dog are an internationally established company, committed to sustainable brewing practices and batching quality beer to sell to market. Since beer is 90% water, it is natural that the quality and composition of the water will have a dramatic impact on the beer’s flavour.
There are three elements of water that will affect the taste of the beer: mineral composition, pH, and alkalinity. The water’s hardness and mineral make-up will impart flavour and influence the fermentation process. The pH encourages enzymatic action in the mix and cultivates the proliferation of yeast during the fermentation stage. Alkalinity creates a buffer to protect the pH from fluctuation throughout the brewing process, making sure bacteria is unable to grow and stripping excess tannic acid from the beer. These three factors are intimately linked and work in tandem to guide the taste and colour of beer production.
Thus Brew Dog wanted a water treatment system that was affordable and easy to install and operate. Our Reverse Osmosis water treatment system appealed because it’s a proven technology to produce high yielding water for beer production and delivering consistent results.
